About
Molly Jean Hormel
I grew up in the Hudson Valley, NY, where a lifelong connection to the outdoors—and even a 2nd-grade Career Day appearance as a painter—shaped my early desire to pursue art. I am currently earning my BA in Visual Arts at Denison University, where living at the student-run Homestead, an environmentally sustainable community, has further grounded my interest in the relationships between humans and the natural world.
My practice focuses on using color and light to create intimate, atmospheric spaces that reflect these connections. By rethinking the traditionally possessive gaze of landscape painting, I aim to cultivate a more relational perspective, one that invites viewers into a sense of shared energy with the environment.
